How so you unlock ipod touch if you have forgotten your password?

It is very easy to lock your iPod if you have forgotten your password or accidentally entered it incorrectly. There is a way of getting it unlocked however so there is no need to worry.

According to the Apple website, if you have forgotten your password and cannot unlock your iPod, simply plug it into the original computer it was first synced with. The computer will in theory recognize the iPod and once it is then disconnected from the computer, it will no longer be locked.

If you are unable to connect it to the original computer it was connected with, you may have to restore the settings by using the iPod updater. This will however erase all your music and other data such as photos so you will have to upload it again once you have unlocked it.

Put the iPod into DFU mode. It will wipe everything off your iPod but it will at least make sure you can get into it

  1. Locate the Home and Power buttons on your iDevice. The Home button is the round button below the screen; the Power button is the rectangular button located on top of your iDevice.
  2. Plug your iDevice into your computer
  3. If you can’t count well in you head, look at a clock that displays the seconds because the timing of these steps is very important.
  4. Press and hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds. The screen should cut off at around 8 seconds
  5. While still holding the Home button, release the Power button.
  6. Continue holding the home button for about 15 seconds.
  7. The screen will remain off and the iDevice will look unchanged, but, if you’re on Windows, you will hear the connected hardware sound; if your on a Mac, iTunes will open and tell you that your iDevice is connected in “Recovery” mode.
The iPod can also be synced with another computer but this will cause all previous music to be deleted. If you do this, you will also find the iPod will then be unlocked and you will be able to go on to use it.

For any reason any of the above mentioned steps do not work for you, it may be easier just to get in touch with Apple customer service where an agent will be able to help you restore your iPod step by step. Visit their website for information on how to get in contact:

How to unlock an ipod touch?
Ok, most the answers on here are wrong. I just did it myself, and the process is simple:

  • First off, plug in your iPod to your computer, allow it to register on iTunes, then click on yours. It must be on the original computer.
  • On the homepage for your iPod, you may want to update the newest version for your iPod. Then click restore.
  • It's a pretty easy process from there, and it doesn't require any work from except agreeing to allow it to restore settings.
  • Do not remove ipod from your computer until a screen pops up allowing you to do so.
  • Then after it restores, don't remove it!
  • Click restore original settings to get back all of your songs, photos, videos, notes, etc..
  • After that, your iPod will have restored everything, and there will be no set password on your iPod! You haven't lost anything and you can now set a password that you should be able to remember.

You may also hold the home button for 5 seconds, as you hold it connect it to your computer. Keep holding it, you will see the white apple, don't let go; in a few seconds you will see another symbol, a white usb and a disk. Now you may let go, the itunes screen should say that it is ready to restore.

There are a lot of differant processes to unlock your ipod touch, but the easy way is just to restore your itunes. I Think us all know how to restore your ipod touch, if not, Plug your ipod touch into your computer and open up Itunes.

On the left hand side you will see your name , example: Julies IPod. Click that and press restore it will only take a few minutes. My opinion that this is the quickest way to unlock  your ipod touch. Yes, it will erase your games, photo, music, movies and more but it should be saved into your data so there will be no problem.

2) Connect to computer (1st synced with) and open iTunes, then disconnect.
3) Let battery die and then charge back up.
4) Restore to factory settings on iTunes.

Guest you are a moron! If you did that you would had to wait around up to 20 days to get the last code in I did that once and after I had tried around 10 times I had to wait 5 hours. So the most reasonable thing is to press home button and the power button at same time it will reset everything but music and games.

You can unlock iPod in one of two ways:
1. Enter the combination on iPod using the same controls you used to set the combination. If you do not enter the correct combination, the digits onscreen flash red. When you enter the combination correctly, iPod will unlock and return you to the last viewed screen.
2. Connect iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.
If you can't unlock iPod using either of these methods, you can

When your at this point all you have to do is hit the lock button or
home button then a screen will appear telling you to slide something
across the screen, do this and your iPod will be unlocked. There is
another way to unlocked by syncing/docking that iPod with it's default
library.
